NON DC LIFTMASTER/SEARS/CHAMBERLIN TROUBLESHOOTING

ALWAYS DO A SAFETY REVERSE TEST ONCE A MONTH AND AFTER EVERY ADJUSTMENT.
ALSO MAKE SURE YOUR SAFETY SENSORS ARE NO MORE THEN 6 INCHES ABOVE THE FLOOR!

  1.  I have to hold the wall button to get the door to close. HERE
  2. My remote will open my door but won’t close it. HERE
  3. The door starts down or up and stops. HERE

  16. When its cold my door sometime doesn’t work. Try spraying a little WD40 HERE and go HERE to see where else you need too spray. The reason is that sometimes when its cold the lube, grease, dirt or what ever acts like glue the WD40 will loosen it up but it is messy so be careful not to get it on anything!
  17. Disable your lock
  18. Remove all ropes!
  19. Make sure the door is balanced and moves easy. If not troubleshoot door EXTENSION or TORSION
  20. My motor makes a buzzing noise , but the chain doesn’t move. HERE

GENIE TROUBLESHOOTING

ALWAYS DO A SAFETY REVERSAL SYSTEM TEST! EVERY MONTH AND AFTER EVERY ADJUSTMENT. ALSO MAKE SURE YOUR SAFETY SENSORS ARE NO MORE THEN 6 INCHES ABOVE THE FLOOR!

1  MOTOR DOESN’T RUN WHEN WALL BUTTON IS PRESSED
– Check the safety sensors HERE
– Check if lock button is on
– Check the outlet in the ceiling where the motor is plugged into see if you have power
– Check wires to motor terminals
– Check down limit HERE
– Wait 20 minutes if motor overheated
2 THE DOOR OPENS AND CLOSES BY ITSELF
– Check that your remote is not sticking
– Check that the wall button is not sticking
– Check the wires for staples
-If nothing else works it might be a ghost HERE
3 DOOR STARTS DOWN THEN STOPS AND GOES BACK UP
– Check safety sensors HERE
– Check safety reversal system
4 DOOR WILL ONLY CLOSE
– Check open limit HERE
– Check open force HERE
– Check if door is sticking, binding or falling
– Check lock on wall button
5 DOOR WILL ONLY OPEN
– Check safety sensors HERE
– Check down limit HERE
– Check if door is sticking, binding or falling
– Check down force HERE
6 MOTOR RUNS BUT DOESN’T MOVE
– Check carriage or traveler is engaged or is not bad
– Check that the screw coupling is not  missing HERE
7 MY REMOTE HAS STOP WORKING OR LESS THEN 10 FEET RANGE – It’s radio interference!
– Replace battery
– Add an antenna to the antenna
8  MY DOOR WON’T CLOSE UNLESS I HOLD THE WALL BUTTON
– Check safety sensors HERE
– Make sure that there are no spider webs on sensor  or the bottom of the doors
– Make sure that the sensor on the left is looking at the one on the right
9 PROGRAM YOUR REMOTE OR KEYLESS ENTRY PAD
– To program the remote…
– Press and release the learn button on the motor HERE
– Then press the remote 4 times then the door should be moving
To program your keyless entry pad…
– Press 357 then program then enter your four number pin then like 1234 then press program
– Then press the learn button HERE on the motor then go back to the keyless entry pad and enter your pin like 1234    – Finally press the up/down arrow 4 times and the door should move!
10 ERASE MY CODES AND REMOTE NOW
– Press and hold the learn button until the red light goes out. HERE
– Next reprogram remote and keypad by following instructions in number 9
11 MY DOOR IS OPENING AND CLOSING BY IT SELF HERE

12 Where’s that black stuff coming from? HERE

13 Make sure the door is balanced and moves easy. If not troubleshoot door EXTENSION or TORSION
